Foundations of Color by Jeff Davis. This is a very clear presentation on color theory. An excellent supplement to Albers and Itten's books on color. Davis uses contemporary art as examples from artists such as Robert Swain and Gabrielle Evertz.

“Why not allow the form and color to affect your sensibility without demanding anymore from it ? For that is all there is. And in effect, that is all to begin with.” – Amédée Ozenfant.

Nancy Haynes at George Lawson
Four paintings by Nancy Haynes. The paintings slowly reveal quite vibrant layers of color.
The central body of the paintings are smoothly feathered out to the sides. The top and bottom edges on the front of the canvases reveal layers of paint with both subtle and abrupt shifts in value. This peeling back from the edges is not dissimilar to the way Brice Marden treated the edges of his oil and wax canvases in the mid-1960's.
