“Why not allow the form and color to affect your sensibility without demanding anymore from it ? For that is all there is. And in effect, that is all to begin with.” – Amédée Ozenfant.

Stations of the Cross

Barnett Newman's Stations of the Cross on display at the DeYoung Museum.
A series of 15 paintings produced from 1958 - 1966,
and displayed in a room dedicated solely to this series.

The exhibit space feels almost like a chapel, and visitors spoke only in whispers
on both of my visits.
